Kingflex
Engineered specifically to meet CA Title 24 environmental standards and demanding coastal microclimates.
Southern California is undergoing a historic shift in mechanical design and energy conservation. Driven by California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 6 (California Energy Code) and strict municipal decarbonization targets, architects and engineers in the Los Angeles metro region must source materials that offer optimum thermal performance, long-term stability, and low global warming potential (GWP).
In coastal zones like Long Beach, Santa Monica, and the Port of Los Angeles, salt-laden marine air accelerated oxidation of typical fiberglass backing systems. Flexible closed-cell elastomeric rubber foam (NBR/PVC) has become the gold standard. Its built-in vapor retarder skin naturally resists moisture intrusion and minimizes the risk of mold growth in mechanical plenums—crucial for maintaining indoor air quality (IAQ) in crowded high-density commercial developments and movie production studios throughout Burbank and Hollywood.
Globally, the flexible elastomeric foam market is expanding rapidly due to rising demand for VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems, district cooling grids, and cryogenic processing lines. The transition away from halogenated blowing agents toward eco-friendly alternatives is now mandatory across key European and North American markets.
As mechanical contractors evaluate pricing structures, importing directly from high-capacity international plants like Kingflex Insulation enables significant cost savings. Managing the logistics of supply chains through the Port of Los Angeles requires robust manufacturing capability, strict quality certificates (such as UL 94, BS 476, ASTM), and rapid production output to match local project timelines.
