Understanding Water Vapor Permeability (μ)

Unlike fibrous insulations like fiberglass or rock wool, which require an external vapor barrier jacket, NBR/PVC elastomeric rubber has a closed-cell structure with a high water vapor resistance factor (μ ≥ 10,000). Water vapor cannot easily penetrate the material, preventing moisture accumulation and preserving the installation's thermal efficiency over time.
